We are living an important moment in Canadian tennis as Canada gets ready to play Serbia in Belgrade in the Davis Cup semi-finals. I have decided to live that experience first hand by being one of the Canadian fans in the 15,000 capacity arena. This moment is so gigantic that I have decided to write a series of articles that will highlight the teams, the players and the whole event. I hope to provide some insight which make it possible for all Canadian fans to enjoy this historic moment.

ONcourt Interview: “Brayden Schnur”

The last two years have been bitter sweet. Since we last spoke Pierre, I moved to Montreal, to the National Training Centre, where I have been living with an amazing host family. The NTC training and fitness has been world class but my body did not hold up at times and a few injuries have cost me down time that hurt my ranking and results. It’s been a hard two years, training, traveling and trying to graduate. The NTC group have been wonderful, we’re a family here and I can definitely say I couldn’t have done it without them.

Michael Emmett: ” Rogers Cup Week is Full of Superstars”

For those of you still contemplating your decision to attend this year’s Rogers Cup in Toronto let me try to sway you in the right direction. If you are a tennis fan this is one event you can’t miss.
The folks at Tennis Canada have put together a star-studded field that rivals any of the Grand Slams. It is the best field in the history of the event – 19 of the top 20 females in the current world rankings will be playing at the Rexall Centre at York University starting on Monday August 5th. It would have been 20 out of 20, however, Russian superstar Maria Sharapova just pulled out due to injury. The 2nd ranked player in the world hasn’t recovered since falling on her hip at Wimbledon and still needs a few weeks to fully heal. But that still leaves all the game’s best slugging it out on the hard courts as they prepare for the US Open later this month in New York City.
