Hernandez Pena and Menard: To Our Players

Roger was ranked in Canada’s top 10 junior level during his final year of competition. He has been Quebec champion in both singles and doubles six times. In addition, he won an ITF Grade 4 tournament and a Canadian Doubles Championship.

Robby is known as a player’s coach, and is close to his players. He believes in a positive approach and the importance of building confidence in children. An expert and a reference at maximizing talent, being involved in the development of an athlete over a period of 5 to 6 years is what drives and motivates him.

Letter to our players

Hello everyone,

My name is Roger Hernandez Pena and I am currently in charge of the Marketing of AMA and I also coach in the Sports Study and Competitive Programs. Above all, all the coaches from the academy and I hope that everyone’s health is doing ok. Your safety and well-being is our top priority. We also want you to know that we are all your second family and we are ready to assist those in need and to not hesitate to reach out to any of the coaches for help. We truly hope that everyone is following the guidelines the government has put forward.

I understand that we are currently in an exceptional, difficult and long-term situation, but we must be proactive and take this opportunity to grow. As Robby mentioned before, we ask everyone to make an effort to stay in shape mentally and physically. We have taken the time to give you different resources to improve our athlete’s mental and physical form. Please follow the three prescribed programs:

1. IN THE ZONE

The goal of this mental training is to develop your brain to be able to breathe, to concentrate better and reach an ideal performance state BE in THE ZONE! Practice Zoning! Robby made a short video for the work that is needed to be done today:  watch here.
2. PLAYING TENNIS THROUGH VISUALIZATION

Visualizing and executing strokes repetitively and with a high standard of excellence has proven to help improve athletes improve their technical, physical and mental skills.

3. FITNESS PROGRAM

Do the Fitness prescribed by our specialists. We want all our athletes to stay in shape and maintain all their gains.

  1. Yes the current situation is unprecedented but as you and other contributors have said, now more than ever is the time to assist and reach out to one another. These next few months (however long) will be challenging but isn’t that why we love the game of tennis. The constant challenge.
