Bjorn Borg injures arm

Bjorn Borg injured his arm in practice in Sao Paulo as he was preparing for his match on the BlackRock Tour of Champions. The injury was serious enough that he was unable to play his match with old rival Guillermo Vilas.

“I was really unlucky,” said Borg. “Coming all the way from Sweden I was really looking forward to coming back to Sao Paulo. The tournament is being played in the same arena in which I won my first tournament in Brazil. For me there are a lot of emotions to come back to the arena and play so I am really, really disappointed. I’m going to prepare for the BlackRock Masters Tennis in London now and then come back to play this tournament next year. This is a great event and the people, who are putting this event together are doing a great job. I will definitely come back and play next year.”

Borg’s place in the tournament was taken by fellow Swede Magnus Larsson.
