***IMG Academy, a division of IMG Worldwide, the global sports, fashion and media company, is the world’s largest and most advanced multi-sport training and education complex. For more than 30 years, IMG Academy has helped countless youth, adult, collegiate and professional athletes reach their full potential in and out of sport, by providing world-class coaching, tailored programs and professional facilities within an energetic environment across a 450-acre campus.

Today, the Bradenton, Fla.-based campus attracts 30,000 athletes from nearly 100 countries annually. IMG Academy offers youth camp and academy programs in baseball, basketball, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer and tennis, in addition to training opportunities for professional athletes, teams and leagues. IMG Academy also runs a series of events on its campus and throughout the country on an annual basis.

After sending its 30-member graduating class to some of the top collegiate programs in the country this past spring, IMG Academy will look to its veterans and newcomers to lead the way on the competition circuit in 2012-13.

Some of the players to watch include:

Michael Mmoh (Freshmen, Temple Hills, Md.) is a five-star recruit on Tennis Recruiting Network and considered the No. 1 overall prospect for the class of 2016. Mmoh is 15-7 on the year in singles and 11-7 in doubles. Mmoh’s stellar play has vaulted him up 343 spots in the ITF Juniors Rankings since February, to become No. 254 overall in the world. His most recent tournament titles were in March after sweeping singles and doubles at the ITF Grade 4 in Guatemala. His efforts earned him an invitation from the USTA to represent the United States in the 14 and under World Championships in Prostejov, Czech Republic, August 13-18.

Anudeep Kodali (Sophomore, Durham, N.C.) is currently a five-star recruit on the Tennis Recruiting Network and No. 3 in the boy’s 14s USTA southern and national rankings. In February 2012, Kodali won the boy’s 14s singles and doubles of the USTA National Open. In March, he won the boy’s 16s BullFrog USTA Southern Section Designated, and reached the boy’s 16s doubles semifinals at the USTA International Spring Championships.

Alejandro Tabilo (Sophomore, Toronto, Canada) is currently ranked No. 3 in Tennis Canada’s boy’s 16s Rogers rankings and No. 21 in the boy’s 18s. In December 2011, he was the boy’s 14s singles champion at the Eddie Herr International on the IMG Academy campus. Most recently, in July, Tabilo was boy’s 18s finalist and boy’s 16s singles champion at the Ontario Tennis Association Junior Provincial tournaments.

Runhao “Leo” Hua (Junior, Shanghai, China) has won numerous Chinese Tennis Association tournaments and has competed in ITF tournaments since 2010. Currently, he is No. 405 in the ITF junior world rankings. Hua has had a strong 2012 showing thus far, being a doubles semifinalist at four ITF events. His showing of the year was in April at the Copa Sultana-Mayaguez ITF-Porta Del Sol (Puerto Rico), where he was the singles champion and doubles finalist.

Mmoh, Kodali, Tabilo and Hua help comprise one of the deepest and most diverse tennis talent pools in the world. IMG Academy tennis alumni and trainees continued to leave their mark in 2012: Maria Sharapova vaulted back to world No. 1 status and cemented her career grand slam after a thrilling victory at the French Open; the Williams sisters swept the singles and doubles titles at Wimbledon, while Heather Watson became the first British woman to make it through the third round in more than a decade; Kei Nishikori became the first Japanese man in 17 years to reach the third round of Wimbledon; and Tommy Haas racked up his 13th career title with a win over Roger Federer at the Gerry Weber Open in Germany.

Additionally, twelve tennis alumni and trainees were named to their respective country’s Olympic tennis teams this summer, including: Ryan Harrison (USA); Serena Williams (USA); Venus Williams (USA); Kei Nishikori (Japan); Go Soeda (Japan); Sabine Lisicki (Germany); Maria Sharapova (Russia); Jelena Jankovic (Serbia); Radek Stepanek (Czech Republic); Daniela Hantuchova (Slovak Republic); Max Mirnyi (Belarus); and Heather Watson (Great Britain).

Earlier this summer, IMG Academy also announced the addition of Rohan Goetzke as Director of Tennis. Goetzke, a native of Australia, brings more than 25 years of playing and coaching experience. He was previously responsible for the development and implementation of the Dutch Tennis Federation’s junior and professional tennis programs.

In his new role, Goetzke oversees a tennis program that distinguishes itself from other middle/high school programs by utilizing a college-style A/B schedule to maximize performance both in the classroom and on the field. In 2012 alone, IMG Academy sent more than 60% of its student-athletes to Division I schools. The national high school average is less than 2%. Additionally, more than $1.5 million in first-year academic and athletic scholarships was awarded to IMG Academy’s 120+ graduating student-athletes.
