Petra Turek of Burnaby edged Vancouver’s Bronwyn Muirhead  3-6, 7-5, 6-3 to claim top-honours in the women’s Over-35 division at the 34th Vancouver Lawn Tennis and Badminton Club Masters Indoor Tennis Championships on Sunday.

Turek, the second-seed, cruised through her first two rounds, dropping just two games before running into the tough top-seeded Muirhead in the final.

Second-seed Kateryna Filyus of Richmond won the women’s Over-40 crown Sunday with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over fourth-seed Andrea McDonald of Vancouver in the final.

Susie Fought of West Vancouver, the top-seed, cruised to the women’s Over-45 title, dropping just three games in three matches. Fought defeated Rebecca Coval-Kalla of Vancouver 6-0, 6-0 in her first round match, dumped fourth-seed Julie Reynolds of Vancouver 6-0, 6-1 in the semifinals and then defeated the second-seed, Richmond’s Carol Lau, 6-1, 6-1 in the final.

Colleen Ostlund won the women’s Over-50 title, defeating Angela Xu 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 in the final. In the women’s Over-55 draw, third-seed Janet Landucci of Vancouver defeated unseeded Helen Hannaford of Vancouver 2-6, 7-6, 6-3 in the championship match.

Fourth-seed Paddy Mann of Victoria took top-honours in the Over-60 division. Mann took out second-seed Eileen Clark of Surrey 6-3, 7-6 in the semifinals and then edged top-seeded Jandi Fraser of Vancouver 7-6, 2-6, 6-4 in the final.
