The Bear is hibernating in the Dominican Republic. I am not living a midlife crisis but coming to terms with the concept that my health might determine the quality of my future life and my ability to continue doing what I love best, working with tennis, kids, friends, family and to resume playing the sport I love. I have taken a page out of Karl Hale’s transformation as an Ironman and have committed to getting healthier.

The phrase "The pot calling the kettle black" is an idiom used to claim that a person is guilty of the very thing of which they accuse another. As generally understood, the person accusing (the "pot") is understood to share some quality with the target of their accusation (the "kettle"). So Mr Anonymous is insinuating that ACE Tennis and Tennis Canada are the same. You know what? He is right, we both are trying to make the game better in Canada. The intent has never been questioned, what is put up for discussion is how we go about it.

After surviving the first day in New Taipei with over 90 kids, I had an hour to get ready for dinner with the General Secretary Philip Liu of the association and two of Taiwan’s top players who had recently won the Asian Championships in doubles. This was a special occasion to honour them and have them receive the traditional red envelope which was filled with cash. As soon as we finished dinner we jumped on their high speed train, over 300 km per hour, and reached Kaohsiung at the south end of the island in an hour and a half. Montreal - Torontos needs one of these.

Davis Cup is the BEST. There is no feeling like it and now for the first time Canada is in the last eight. Not only is Canada in the last eight, but we have a legitimate chance to make it to the top four. If ever you make it to the last four then the thinking is anything can happen. The reason anything can happen is because we have the big gun “Milos Raonic”.

This scientifically based document provides the base principles to be respected in developing athletes in the sport through Tennis Canada’s strategic plan.
